3K Walk Cancer Away
After a distinguished career, Dr. Kemeny retired in 2023. Her groundbreaking work on the hepatic pump for delivering chemotherapy has benefited thousands of patients with metastatic colon cancer. Dr. Kemeny has presented her research globally.
The Rentas Family, with their connection to RWJBarnabas Health, has introduced Dr. Kemeny to the RWJBarnabas system. In the coming months, she will collaborate with RWJBarnabas Health to make her pump available to New Jersey's 9 million residents.
RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest academic health care system affiliated with Rutgers University, is dedicated to expanding access to this life-saving technology. We aim to connect Dr. Kemeny with the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, to advance her research and improve patient outcomes.
Starting in 2024, all funds from “WALK CANCER AWAY” will support RWJBarnabas Health. Please sign up to help raise crucial funds for research and awareness, and to promote early colon cancer screenings.
Preventable. Beatable. Treatable.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Rentas family for organizing this walk each year. Their commitment to raising money for Dr. Nancy Kemeny’s pump research, research that saved my life, is truly incredible. I look forward to reconnecting each year with other patients of Dr. Kemeny’s, the many survivors, and the Rentas family.”

“We walk so that no one ever has to hear the words 'You Have Cancer' again. We walk so that everyone currently fighting knows that we stand with them and support them. We will keep walking until there is a cure.”

“I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer and the first year I got a notice that I was cancer-free was the first year I attended the walk. The walk means so much to me because I not only get to help Dr. Kemeny, I get to meet great people that were patients as well! I’m 11 years cancer free and I’ll never miss the walk!”
